Each switch features an ASIC-based Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) with an integrated CPU, ensuring consistent wire-rate forwarding even with all control plane features enabled. Leveraging proven Juniper Networks technology, the PFE delivers carrier-class performance and reliability to the EX2300 switches, comparable to the standards set by Juniper Networks routers in the largest service provider networks globally.

Select models of the EX2300, including the 48MP, support Power over Ethernet (PoE) standards such as 802.3af Class 3 and 802.3at PoE+. The PoE-enabled EX2300 switches boast a maximum system budget of 750 watts, delivering up to 30 watts to select ports, making them suitable for supporting networked devices in converged networks, including telephones, video cameras, IEEE 802.11ac WLAN access points, and videophones.

The EX2300-48MP also offers multigigabit PoE+ access ports, accommodating higher-speed IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2 access points and facilitating the support of more wireless users.
