The PowerVault MD1000 direct-connected storage array uses larger 3.5" drives and allows you to mix SAS and SATA drives in the same container, making it excellent for high-capacity applications. The modular architecture allows for easy expansion of up to three enclosures or 45 disks per RAID port when used with a PowerEdge RAID Controller 5/E or 6/E (PERC5/E and PERC6/E). Alternatively, you can add 45 drives to your current PowerVault MD3000 and MD3000i external controller-based storage arrays by daisy-chaining two more PowerVault MD1000 enclosures. The PowerVault MD1000 external RAID storage's versatility allows you to create the exact combination of storage resources you need right now, then add more storage volume later, all while ensuring your hardware's long-term life and usage.
