IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive Information:

The IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive is a 100-gigabyte external Ultrium tape drive that can transfer data at up to 15 megabits per second (uncompressed). It has data compression hardware with a capacity of up to 200 GB and a transfer rate of up to 30 MB per second, depending on the characteristics of the data being transmitted. For save/restore and archiving functions, the 3580 is a cost-effective solution.

IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive Specifications:

The IBM 3580 Ultrium Tape Drive is an external, stand-alone, SCSI-attached, Ultrium tape drive that attaches to AS/400, RS/6000, Netfinity, and other Unix and PC servers supporting Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX other open workstations and servers. It provides a media capacity of up to 100 GB (200 GB with 2:1 compression) data storage per cartridge and a sustained data rate of up to 15 MB per second (uncompressed).


In addition to reading and writing on Ultrium tape data cartridges, 3580 Tape Drive provides an excellent migration path from DLT, 1/4-inch, 4mm, or 8mm tape drives. It is a very cost-effective solution for save-and-restore and archiving functions and the first in a family of IBM Ultrium tape solutions.
