IBM TS3500 Tape Library Information:

The IBM System Storage TS3500 Tape Library (TS3500 tape library) is intended for use in midrange to enterprise contexts as a highly scalable, automated tape library for mainframe and open systems backup and archiving. The entry base frame of the TS3500 tape library enables a more flexible upgrade route for users that need to expand their tape storage at any moment. The "entry-level" configuration, a "intermediate" configuration, and a "full capacity" configuration are all available as capacity on demand (CoD) options for TS3500 tape library L-frame models. Two CoD configurations are also possible with S-frame models.

  • Up to 12 drives per frame (up to 192 per library)

  • Up to 224 I/O slots (16 I/O slots standard)

  • IBM 3592 JA/JJ/JB and JW/JR/JX (WORM) cartridges or IBM LTO Ultrium® 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 cartridges

  • Up to 60 PB with IBM Ultrium 5 cartridges

  • Up to 45 PB with 3592 extended capacity cartridges

  • LTO Fibre Channel interface for server attachment
