Blade X8400 Information

The Sun Blade X8400 is one of four server modules available for the Sun Blade 8000 or 8000 P Chassis. The ILOM firmware is the service processor (SP). It has its own Internet Protocol (IP) and media access control (MAC) addresses and can function regardless of the state of the rest of the system's hardware. The Sun Blade server module SP, for example, can run whether the server module is turned on, off, or in standby mode.

2.5V error-correcting (ECC) high-capacity dual in-line memory modules are used in the X8400 Server Module (DIMMs). The DIMMs are made of DDR SDRAM (double-data-rate synchronous dynamic access memory) with a 400-MHz clock frequency.

Capacities Per Server Module: 4 DIMM slots per processor, for a maximum total of 16 slots. DIMMs are configured in 2 DIMM pairs.

Disk: Up to two optional, hot-swappable, hot-pluggable, SATA or SAS drives per blade.

May be configured as independent, striped (RAID 0), or mirrored (RAID 1).

Mixing disk types (i.e. one SAS disk and one SATA disk) on the same Server Module is not supported.
